~8th Grade Happenings~
Tuesday, October 20th, staff from Trinity High School will be here during Advisory to speak with 8th graders in the cafeteria.

Feb. 11th at 12:45 representatives from Central High School will be at McLaughlin to meet in the cafeteria with those students scheduled to attend Central next year.

Please help the McLaughlin Library and participate in the Target program. You need to go to the Target store website and type  "take charge of education" in the search box.  From there it's pretty easy to register your account number;  the program does not impact your account in any way.  There is an explanation on the website if you have any concerns.

The Magazine Fundraiser is available online at for some great gifts or to renew your magazines!  Our school account is 2649515, and we earn 40% towards our fundraising goal! If you have any questions, please see me. Thank you again for your continued support!

Bus Policy

From our Transportation Policy*:
  • Students availing themselves of transportation shall be picked up and dropped off at the same location Monday through Friday.
  • Students may only ride the bus to which they have been assigned.
Students are rostered to a bus and to a stop as a safety procedure and for the overall management of the transportation program.  Parents may request their child ride a different bus with a friend, or for transportation to be split mid week between households.  Please help them understand that we are not able to provide the service they are requesting for the safety of their children.

Students can, however, be assigned to one bus and stop in the AM, and a separate bus and stop in the PM, as long as it is consistent daily.  For instance, a student may ride from home in the morning, and to a stop near a caretaker's home in the afternoon, as long as that home is within the busing area of the child's school.  A parent would make this request at the school level, the request forwarded to me to make the change, and I will confirm when the assignment is changed back to the school, who would then close the gap with the parent.

McLaughlin follows the Middle School philosophy which promotes teaming, collaboration, a student-centered approach and close home and school communication. A major middle school premise is that your child's education is a shared and cooperative venture between the home and school. Pre- and early adolescence is a very difficult time for most students as they are changing rapidly and exploring the world with different perspectives. We recognize these changes and plan our educational program to help meet your child's needs.
